Terms of Use
The short version
Space Harbors is a game for iPhone and iPad for learning about real stars and planets. Play it as much as you like, don't copy or resell it, and understand that it is offered as is, without guarantees.
Who provides the game
Space Harbors is made and operated by Merry Chris LLC, a New York limited liability company, United States ("we"), through the App Store and at spaceharbors.com. You can reach us at hello@spaceharbors.com.
Using the game
- You may download Space Harbors from the App Store and play it on devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use.
- Teachers may use it in class and share the link with students. Please contact us about classroom features.
- You may not copy, re-host, sell, rent, modify, or create derivative works from the game, its code, art, text or data, except as these terms allow. Short quotes and screenshots for reviews, teaching or commentary are fine.
- You may not interfere with the game or its hosting, attempt to gain unauthorized access, or use automated tools to scrape it.
Ownership
The game, including its code, design, artwork, story, characters (Lumen, the Hollow) and the way its information is selected and presented, is © 2026 Merry Chris LLC and protected by copyright and other laws. Astronomical facts themselves belong to everyone; we credit the sources we use on each card and in Credits & sources. The app uses three.js (MIT License) and the Josefin Sans typeface (SIL Open Font License), each under its own terms.
Educational content
We work hard to keep the astronomy accurate and cite published sources, but distances and sizes in the game are compressed to make it playable, some values are estimates (marked on their cards), and science changes. The game is a learning aid, not a reference work; please check the cited sources for schoolwork or research.
The App Store
Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the app. The app is free to download. Optional one-time in-app purchases unlock Hyperspeed, the Mini Games Pack (every mini game open from the main menu at once), the Mission Pack, the Exoplanet Atlas and the Eradication weapons, or all five in the Explorer Bundle; each of these can also be earned by playing, and the Store in the app says how. Each story (The Star Cartographers, Before the Sun, The Last Harbor) has a free first chapter; the rest of each story is a separate one-time purchase, singly or all together in the Story Pass, and no story is part of the Explorer Bundle. The Story Pass covers the stories on sale at the time of purchase; stories added later may be sold separately. Three guided tours are free; the rest can be earned in the game by completing the tour achievements, or bought together as the Tours Pack, which covers the tours on sale at the time of purchase. The Mission Pack covers every mission in the game, including missions added later; without it, each mission has its own in-game unlock. The other purchases and the bundle cover the content named in them at the time of purchase. Purchases are processed by Apple and tied to your Apple Account; use Restore Purchases in the app to get them back on another device, and ask Apple for refunds through reportaproblem.apple.com. Prices are shown in the App Store before you buy and may change. These terms are between you and us, not Apple; Apple is not responsible for the app or its content and has no obligation to provide support for it. Game Center leaderboards are provided by Apple under Apple's terms.
Children
Space Harbors is suitable for all ages. In its current version it collects no personal information (see the Privacy Policy).
Health and safety
The game shows moving lights, lasers and explosions. A small number of people may experience discomfort or seizures from flashing visuals. Turn on Settings → Reduce flashing effects if you are sensitive, take breaks, and stop playing if you feel unwell. Don't play while driving or in any situation that needs your attention.
No warranty
The game is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. Your progress is saved on your own device. Deleting the app, or changing devices without a device backup, can erase it, and we cannot restore it.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use the game. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the past twelve months, which for a free game is zero. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Changes and availability
We may update, change or discontinue the game or any part of it at any time. We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and continuing to play after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in the State of New York, unless the law where you live gives you other rights.
