Privacy Policy
This policy covers the Space Harbors app for iPhone and iPad, and this website (spaceharbors.com). Space Harbors is made by Merry Chris LLC, a New York limited liability company ("we").
The short version
Space Harbors does not ask for your name, email or any other personal information. It has no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. Your game progress stays on your own device.
What is stored, and where
- Your progress and settings (callsign, ship color, scores, logbook, badges, survey points and preferences) are saved in the app's storage on your device, with a second copy in the app's own settings storage on the same device so progress isn't lost if iOS clears the first copy. Neither copy is sent to us.
- iCloud. If you are signed in to iCloud, a copy of your progress (not your photos) is also kept in your own iCloud storage, so it follows you to your other iPhones and iPads signed in to the same Apple Account and comes back if you reinstall the app. This copy is stored by Apple under Apple's privacy policy; we cannot see it. You can turn this off in Settings → Game, or for all apps in your device's iCloud settings.
- Photos you take in the game are kept as image files in the app's own folder on the device that took them (up to 200), shown under Logbook → Photos. They are not synced to your other devices and not sent to us. You can delete any of them there.
- Your photo library. The app cannot see or change your photo library. Save to phone hands a photo to the iPhone's share sheet, where you choose whether to save it; nothing is saved to your library unless you do.
- Like other app data, they may be included in your iCloud or computer backup, depending on your device settings.
- You can erase your progress at any time with Profile → Reset progress; with iCloud sync on, this also resets it on your other devices. Your photos are kept; delete them under Logbook → Photos. Deleting the app erases the progress and photos on that device; the iCloud copy stays, which is how a reinstall brings your progress back. To remove that copy's progress too, use Reset progress before deleting the app.
Information others may receive
- Game Center. If you are signed in to Apple's Game Center, the app sends your scores (such as knowledge, harbors claimed and best times) to Game Center so they can appear on leaderboards. Game Center is run by Apple under Apple's privacy policy, and your Game Center settings control what other players see. We don't receive your Apple ID or contact details. If you're not signed in, nothing is sent.
- Purchases. In-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We never receive your name, payment details or Apple Account; the app only learns which items your account has bought, so it can unlock them.
- Motion sensor. If you turn on Tilt to strafe, the game reads your device's tilt to steer. This is used only while you play, on your device; it is never stored or sent anywhere.
- No internet needed. The game runs entirely from files inside the app. It doesn't load anything from the internet or send anything to us.
- Links you open, such as sources on object cards, sponsor links (marked "Sponsored"), the newsletter sign-up or these pages, open in your browser and are governed by those websites' own privacy policies. We share nothing with sponsors.
- Emailing us. If you email us, for support, to send feedback or to be told when the game launches, we keep your email address and message only to reply and to send the launch news you asked for. We won't add you to anything else without asking, and we'll delete your address whenever you ask. The game itself never sees your email address. Children under 13 should ask a parent to email us for them.
- This website is hosted by Cloudflare, which receives standard technical information when any web page is loaded (such as your IP address, browser type and the time of the request) and may keep it in server logs for security and reliability. We do not use these logs to identify you.
Children
Space Harbors is suitable for all ages. Because the game collects no personal information, children can play without sharing any. If we add accounts or online features in the future, we will update this policy first and follow the rules that apply to children's data, including the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Changes
If we change how the game handles information, for example by adding accounts or new online features, we will update this page and the date at the top.
